Aker Carbon Capture, a leading player in the carbon capture technology sector, has been awarded a pivotal study by a prominent European developer to evaluate the feasibility of integrating carbon capture solutions across multiple biomass and waste-to-energy facilities, it said on February 22.

The initiative aims to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in line with the European Commission's proposed 90% net GHG emissions reduction target for 2040 compared to 1990 levels.

The initial phase of the project involves the implementation of carbon capture technology at four facilities based on Aker Carbon Capture's innovative modular solution, Just Catch.

Aker Carbon Capture is delivering seven carbon capture plants, including projects in the Netherlands, Norway, and Denmark. Notable projects include the final stages of delivering a Just Catch 100 unit at the Twence waste-to-energy facility, a carbon capture plant for Heidelberg Materials' cement plant in Brevik, and multiple Just Catch 100 units for Orsted's bioenergy facilities in Denmark.
