Australia's Future Energy Exports CRC (FEnEx CRC) and Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA) in collaboration with Japanese companies JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (JX NOEX), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Osaka Gas will research low-pressure and low-temperature CO2 ship transport solutions, the companies announced on August 23.

The project involves studying CO2 behaviour, phase changes, and the impact of non-CO2 elements. Activities include experiments, model integration, and pilot-scale tests, with FEnEx CRC and several universities participating.

The companies said the project aligns with the emissions reduction goals of Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region. By forging international collaboration and focusing on carbon neutrality, the initiative aims to contribute to innovative solutions for handling CO2 and progressing toward more sustainable practices, they added.
