Italian cruise company Costa Cruises has partnered with LC3 Trasporti to introduce bio-LNG-powered trucks for transporting essential supplies to its cruise ships, it said on May 17.

Starting on May 19, the collaboration will coincide with the inaugural call of the Costa Firenze ship in Kiel, Germany. LC3 Transport trucks will transport goods from Costa Cruises' warehouses in Genoa to Kiel.

This sustainable fuel will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 90% and eliminate particulate emissions compared to conventional diesel vehicles.

Costa Cruises said it remains committed to achieving a net-zero fleet by 2050, extending its dedication to sustainability across all cruise-related activities.

The collaboration with LC3 Trasporti represents a concrete step towards establishing a responsible and sustainable supply chain. Michele Ambrogi, president of LC3 Trasporti, highlighted their shared values of minimising environmental impact through logistics.
