ASX-listed ReNu Energy on May 15 announced the signing of a joint cooperation agreement between its subsidiary Countrywide Hydrogen and 7R Logistics to promote the use of green hydrogen in heavy transport vehicles in Tasmania.

7R Logistics, previously known as Blu Logistics, is a national heavy vehicle transport company serving major food and dairy companies in Australia.

Under the terms of the agreement, Countrywide will progress the development of its green hydrogen projects in Tasmania with a view to supplying certified green hydrogen to 7R Logistics for heavy vehicle road transport.

Countrywide aims to establish three hydrogen refuelling sites located near Hobart, Launceston, and Burnie in Tasmania, covering the major transport routes in the state. Hydrogen-powered trucks are expected to deliver comparable or superior performance to diesel vehicles in terms of power output, torque, payload, refueling time, and range, ReNu said. These trucks are planned to be available in Australia when Countrywide begins its hydrogen production in Tasmania.

The non-binding strategic framework agreement is intended to be converted into definitive arrangements as Countrywide's hydrogen projects progress.

ReNu Energy's executive director and Countrywide's managing director, Geoffrey Drucker, highlighted the partnership's goal to accelerate the development of green hydrogen projects in Tasmania and called for support from the state government to facilitate the transition to zero-emissions road transport.
