By Dale Lunan

Dominion Energy and Duke Energy joined with a number of southeast US utilities and other stakeholders to form a coalition that will pursue the development a Southeast Hydrogen Hub spanning six states, the group said November 1.

The coalition, which includes Louisville Gas & Electric, Kentucky Utilities Company, Southern Company, the Tennessee Valley Authority, technology developer Batelle and others, will pursue federal financial support for the hub’s development. Newly-announced support from the US Department of Energy includes $8bn for regional hydrogen hubs under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Others expected to join the coalition will come from a growing list of hydrogen users from a variety of industries across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North and South Carolina and Tennessee.
