Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to undertake a feasibility study to set up a joint integrated pilot project for the use of hydrogen in mobility in the UAE, DEWA said on February 13.

This proposed project will take advantage of DEWA’s existing green hydrogen production facility in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and ENOC's knowledge of the fuel market and reach, DEWA added.

The project includes a feasibility study for building a hydrogen fuelling station and supports the national hydrogen vehicle system, which aims to develop the hydrogen economy in the UAE and open local markets to hydrogen vehicles.

The green hydrogen facility at Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park covers an area of about 10,000 m2 and has been designed and built to accommodate future applications and test platforms for various uses of hydrogen.
