Russia’s EL5-Energo has signed an agreement to supply green power to Novatek’s Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG project, it said on December 26.

The green electricity will be generated by a wind farm having an installed capacity of 90 MW and supplied to the medium-scale Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG project.

“Purchasing green electricity allows to reduce the carbon footprint of the LNG produced at the plant in Vysotsk and to minimise the environmental impact,” EL5-Energo said.

The Cryogas-Vysotsk LNG project has a 660,000 metric tons/year capacity. Its infrastructure also includes a 42,000 m3 LNG storage tank and an offloading terminal designed to handle LNG carriers with a capacity of up to 30,000 m3. Novatek acquired a 51% participation interest in Cryogas-Vysotsk in July 2017.

EL5-Energo operates three gas power plants: Konakovskaya GRES, Nevinnomysskaya GRES, Sredneuralskaya GRES, and two wind farms.
