US tech company Emerging Fuels Technology (EFT), has introduced a catalyst system to produce synthetic diesel and jet fuels, the company said on February 8.

EFT produces synthetic fuels from feedstocks such as natural gas, flared gas, biogas, biomass, municipal solid waste, CO2 and more.

The company's Maxx Jet and Maxx Diesel technologies will provide a scalable, sustainable path for converting synthetic crude into very high yields of high-quality jet fuel and diesel fuel products, it said. Maxx Jet technology was recently used to produce jet fuel from CO2 to the US Air Force.

With global aviation producing 1.2bn metric tons of CO2 emissions every year, there is a need to provide for the industry’s commitments to adopt sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), EFT said.

“We are excited to offer these yield and quality improvements and very pleased to be working with Haldor Topsoe to manufacture our proprietary hydroprocessing catalysts,” said Kenneth Agee, president of EFT. “Our proven process can be a valuable resource to an industry in great need of alternative fuel sources.”
