Italy's Eni and Algeria's Sonatrach have signed a memorandum of understanding on decarbonisation initiatives, under which they will look at joint renewables, hydrogen, bio-refining and COcapture utilisation and storage projects.

"This agreement is in line with Eni's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, consolidating the partnership with Sonatrach for a sustainable development and to jointly tackle the energy transition challenges," Eni said on December 14, announcing the partnership.

Eni and Sonatrach also signed a contract on further development of oil and gas resources in Algeria's Berkine basin.
