Norwegian major Equinor said September 29 its onshore natural gas production in Ohio has been certified by Equitable Origin under the EO100™ Standard for Responsible Development.

The certification, awarded following an assessment by Responsible Energy Solutions, covers all production from Equinor’s Appalachian Basin assets in Ohio, spanning about 242,000 net acres, of which 27,000 net acres are developed. Production averages about 135mn ft3/day from 51 producing wells on 13 well pads.

“Achieving Equitable Origin’s rigorous standards for certification demonstrates our values as a company and our commitment to a just transition towards a net-zero future,” said Chris Golden, senior vice president at Equinor and its US country manager. “We are proud to provide natural gas at a time when affordable, reliable energy is top of mind.”
