The pair worked on electrifying the Troll A platform off Norway.

Norway's Equinor has entered into a pact with Japan's Hitachi Energy to work together on electrification, renewable power generation and low-carbon initiatives across the world, the companies said on November 8.

The pair have already collaborated on power grid solutions and technologies at several projects, including the Dogger Bank A, B and C wind farm – the world's biggest off the UK coast, and the electrification of the Troll A gas field off Norway.

Initially, the partners will work together on developing standardised base designs for high-voltage direct current and alternating current transmission systems to link offshore wind farms and Equinor's production facilities to mainland power grids.

The agreement's scope covers all Hitachi's portfolio of power grid technologies and solutions.
