Quebec-based GHGSat announced on October 13 it would be assisting Bahrain's state-owned Oil and Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding) in monitoring methane and other greenhouse gas emissions using its constellation of satellites.

Nogaholding will gain accurate and frequent data to improve its environmental practices, using high-resolution remote sensing from space, GHGSat said.

“We aim to deploy GHGSat’s unique fleet of high-resolution satellites to monitor various industrial asset locations in the kingdom," Nogaholding CEO Mark Thomas said in a statement. "The data will serve to support our mitigation efforts as we move towards fulfilling Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and our net-zero emission goals."

GHGSat CEO Stephane Germain added that "satellites are a cost-effective and proven system for observing emissions, providing accurate, reliable, and frequent data to support decarbonisation strategies."
