Honeywell has been selected as the carbon capture technology provider for PTTEP’s Arthit carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the Arthit gas field in the Gulf of Thailand, the company said on January 20.

The company will deploy its Separex membrane technology to concentrate the CO2 rich stream which will be geologically stored in depleted reservoirs.

Honeywell will also provide engineering and consultancy services for front end engineering design and subsequent phases of the project, subject to a successful final investment decision. It will also provide pre-commissioning and startup support in the later phases of the project.

PTTEP had last June announced its plans to develop the Arthit CCS project. The state-owned energy company is aiming to be net zero emissions by 2050. One of its key strategic enablers to reduce carbon dioxide emitted from the company’s petroleum production process is the adoption of CCS technology.
