Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Mitsubishi Kakoki Kaisha plan to introduce biogas-derived hydrogen production equipment in Thailand, the companies announced on June 26. The equipment will utilise biogas derived from local sources such as chicken manure and food waste to produce hydrogen.

Mitsubishi Kakoki will manufacture the hydrogen production equipment, which will be installed in Thailand in November 2023. Toyota and Toyota Tsusho will collaborate on hydrogen production, including the development of a system for compressing, storing, and transporting biogas and hydrogen, as well as establishing an operational system.

The three companies said they will work together to optimise the design of the equipment to suit local conditions.

By leveraging Japan's hydrogen-related technologies, the companies aim to advance clean energy solutions tailored to each country and region. They also intend to collaborate with various stakeholders to realise a hydrogen society and ultimately contribute to achieving carbon neutrality, the companies said.
