Japan’s JGC Holdings Corporation and Indonesian ammonia producer Panca Amara Utama (PAU) have signed an agreement to measure greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including methane, at the latter’s ammonia production site in Central Sulawesi, JGC said on September 26

JGC and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation have developed GHG and carbon intensity (CI) guidelines for the calculation of GHG from LNG, hydrogen, and ammonia production.

The guidelines are recommended for global companies who supply transition energy to Japan, and to enable the simple calculation of GHG and CI according to the actual operation mode seeking accuracy, JGC said.

JGC will measure GHG emissions at PAU's ammonia production sites from November to December 2022 by using infrared cameras, drones, and satellites. It will also calculate GHG emissions/ metric ton of ammonia to calculate CI values for ammonia products.
