Japan Organisation for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC) has signed an extension of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oman for bilateral technical cooperation in the energy sector, it said on December 28. The extended MoU includes collaboration towards commercial and technical issues relating to clean energy as a new field of cooperation.

JOGMEC and Oman’s ministry of oil and gas signed the MoU for bilateral technical cooperation in the fields of oil and natural gas in 2014 and extended it in 2017 and 2020.

“As projects in carbon neutral areas such as green hydrogen are advancing in Oman, the extended MoU includes collaboration towards commercial and technical issues relating to clean energy in addition to traditional energy,” JOGMEC said.

In addition to the MoU extension, Oman has also signed other energy deals with Japan. State-owned Oman LNG has agreed to supply LNG top three Japanese companies: Jera, Mitsui and Itochu.
