Calgary-based Certarus, which provides a virtual pipeline delivering low-carbon fuels to industrial customers, is adopting the same model for itself, selecting Edmonton’s Innovative Fuel Systems to help it convert its heavy-duty fleet vehicles to use compressed natural gas (CNG) instead of diesel.

After rigorous performance testing, Certarus selected Innovative Fuel’s Multi Fuel Technology Platform (MFTP™) for installation on several of its fleet vehicles in Canada and the US. The platform makes it easier to convert diesel-burning engines to CNG.

“Certarus has emerged as a leading ESG solutions provider for industrial customers working to decarbonise their operations,” Certarus COO Natasha Cherednichenko said. “With Innovative Fuel Systems’ Multi Fuel Technology Platform, we can take advantage of the same emissions reduction benefits from switching to lower carbon fuels that we offer our customers.”

Innovative Fuel CEO Leland Oberst said the MFTP™ will enable Certarus to substitute up to 60% of diesel fuel with CNG, RNG or hydrogen, realising the same cost savings and emissions reduction benefits it offers its industrial customers.

Installations on Certarus fleet vehicles are scheduled to begin this spring.
