Malaysia to supply hydrogen to new Indonesian capital

Malaysia has reached an understanding with the Indonesian government regarding the investment and supply of hydrogen to Nusantara, Indonesia’s new capital city in East Kalimantan, Bernama, the Malaysian state news agency reported on March 19.
Malaysian prime minister Anwar Ibrahim said Indonesian president Joko Widodo had previously informed him of the understanding between the Sarawak state government and Indonesia.
Sarawak premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said he met Jokowi in Indonesia and discussed the state government’s hydrogen-related investment in Nusantara, Bernama reported.
Last year, the South Korean government said it plans to start importing hydrogen produced in Malaysia by 2027. The hydroelectric power generation-based hydrogen produced in Malaysia is scheduled to be supplied by Samsung Engineering and Lotte Chemical.
