Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), has delivered an ammonia fuel supply system for large, low-speed two-stroke marine engines to Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG), MHI said on May 24.

J-ENG is currently conducting tests of ammonia fuel under various conditions using an experimental, large-scale, low-speed two-stroke marine engine at the MHI Research & Innovation Center in Nagasaki District, Japan. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's ammonia fuel supply system has been installed at the Nagasaki facility to provide the necessary ammonia fuel for these tests.

According to MHI, ammonia is gaining significant attention as a fuel that can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the maritime industry. By manufacturing and supplying ammonia fuel supply systems for ships, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding aims to contribute to the maritime industry's efforts in reducing GHG emissions, MHI said.
