Montrose Environmental Group said October 3 it had added Kuva Systems’ infra-red camera solution for methane detection to its Sensible Environmental Data Platform, a cloud-base suite of data technologies to detect, locate and address methane emissions.

Kuva's camera-based solution is being used by oil and gas operators across the US and Canada, where it provides upstream and midstream operators the ability to identify intermittent large emission events – “super emitters” – and analyse their root causes for emissions reduction.

“According to the Environmental Protection Administration, methane accounts for about 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions,” said Steve Davis, vice president of environmental data solutions at Montrose. “A cutting-edge methane monitoring program is crucial for real-time leak detection and mitigation. Our collaboration with Kuva enables companies to comply with upcoming methane regulations and reduce methane emissions.”
