Denmark's Nature Energy announced on March 15 it was acquiring land in Farnham, in Canada's Quebec province, to build its first-ever biogas plant in North America.

Nature plans to invest C$100mn ($79mn) in the project, expected up and running by the end of 2024. The plant will cover 10.8 hectares, creating 200 jobs in the construction phase and 15 during the operation phase, Nature said. The company plans to establish additional such facilities in Canada.

"It's fantastic that our ambitions to contribute to the ecological transition with farmers, businesses and the community beyond Denmark's borders are being realised here in Quebec," Nature CEO Ole Hvelplund commented. "With this acquisition in Quebec, we are now taking our expertise abroad, which will contribute to the green transition worldwide."
