Greece-based Neptune Lines has ordered two LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers at China’s Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, expanding its commitment to sustainable shipping, it said on January 31.
The order for the two vessels, with a capacity of 4,200 CEU each, is part of Neptune Lines’ Genesis project. This follows the recent order of the first two vessels of the same series, bringing the total newbuilding orders to four vessels under the Genesis project.
Neptune Lines will collaborate with Deltamarin for the co-design of the additional vessels. The delivery of the two newly ordered vessels is expected in 2027.
Neptune Lines has reported a decrease in its carbon intensity, with a 52% reduction by the end of 2023 compared to the 2008 baseline. The company is on track to improve its intensity profile further, targeting a 68% reduction by the end of 2030, sit said.
