Japanese utility Osaka Gas will start supplying carbon-neutral gas to new condominium developers in the Kansai region as part of its efforts to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions from households, the company said on September 8.

This will be the first service in the Kansai region to supply carbon-neutral city gas for household use. “The provision of this service, combined with the use of Osaka Gas's existing Style Plan E-Zero electricity rate plan, which supplies electricity from renewable energy sources, enables residents to consider their homes’ CO2 emissions from energy use as virtually zero,” the utility said.

Osaka Gas has been selling household fuel cells and electricity derived from renewable energy under the Style Plan E-Zero to support energy saving, low carbon emissions, and decarbonisation of residential customers.
