Pavilion completes maiden STS LNG bunkering operation in Singapore

By Shardul SharmaSinapore's Pavilion Energy on February 19 announced the completion of its maiden ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation using the newly deployed LNG bunker vessel, Brassavola. The vessel delivered 1,970 tonnes of LNG to the Rio Tinto chartered dual-fuelled bulk carrier, Mount Api, in the Port of Singapore.
Brassavola, Singapore's first membrane LNG bunker vessel, was delivered to Pavilion Energy two weeks ago. Equipped with dual-fuel engines and featuring a loading and bunkering rate of up to 2,000m³/hour, Brassavola is set to play a pivotal role in Pavilion Energy's commitment to environmental stewardship, the company said.
"The steady developments of our LNG bunkering solutions from truck operations to our ship-to-ship LNG bunkering activities today is a testament to the strong operational expertise of our team. Brassavola will play a key role in our efforts to promote environmental stewardship," Malcolm Lim, the division head of the Singapore Hub at Pavilion Energy, commented.
The LNG bunker vessel, chartered by Pavilion Energy to supply LNG bunkers in the Port of Singapore, was built by Seatrium and delivered to the owner, Indah Singa Maritime, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K Lines. The vessel was named by Pavilion Energy and MOL in 2022.
Following this successful STS bunkering operation, Pavilion Energy anticipates Brassavola's increased involvement in operations to meet the growing demand for cleaner marine fuel. The company plans to leverage its global LNG bunker supply partner networks in Europe and China to bring ease and efficiency to bunkering solutions for customers.
After attaining its LNG bunker supplier licence in 2016, Pavilion has since bunkered more than 280 truckloads of LNG with no incidents to date.
