Petrofac has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with ADNOC in the UAE to install facilities to optimise operations and reduce methane and greenhouse gas emissions at the Habshan complex, located 150 km southwest of Abu Dhabi, it said on December 12.

This award follows the September 2022 announcement that Petrofac will continue to support ADNOC’s operations at the Haliba oil field, with a two-year field maintenance services contract extension.

Habshan complex was built in 1984 to process sour gas from Thamama-C reservoir off to Bab oil field.

As part of its commitment to cutting emissions, ADNOC is planning to increase its CO2 capture capacity by over 500%, to approximately 5mn metric tons/year by 2030, it said earlier this month.
