Petronas, the Malaysian oil and gas company, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with AIQ, a technology company based in Abu Dhabi, to harness artificial intelligence (AI) to drive advancements in the energy sector and promote sustainability, it said on August 9.

As part of the collaboration, the two parties will work together to pilot and test AI solutions to discover viable applications and use cases that can create value across multiple business verticals in the energy sector on a global scale.  The companies will also develop AI and advanced analytics best practices and frameworks to ensure commercial and operational excellence throughout their joint projects.

In addition to their focus on AI solutions, the partnership will also include initiatives to upskill and develop the workforce through training and capability-building programs.
