Thai state-owned energy company PTT Exploration and Production Public Company (PTTEP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mahidol University on geoscience and petroleum engineering, fostering professionals in the energy sector and developing carbon storage sites, it said on February 5.

The agreement, part of the 'PTTEP Subsurface University Energy Connect' project, emphasises the role of education in promoting sustainable energy solutions, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.

“These are pivotal to drive the carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology development, leading Thailand to low-carbon society. The signing ceremony was held at Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus,” PTTEP said.

PTTEP is engaged in Thailand's first CCS project at the Arthit offshore gas field. The company is dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, recognising the adoption of CCS technology as a key strategic enabler to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from its petroleum production processes.
