US midstream asset developer Rimrock Energy partners said February 2 it had entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with 8 Rivers Capital to develop net-zero technology.

The planned emissions technology portfolio will include hydrogen, ammonia, heat, power, and cryogenic gas processing at large scale throughout Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.

Rimrock develops industrial scale assets including gathering, processing, and transportation of natural gas in safe and environmentally responsible manner.

8 Rivers is the developer of carbon-free hydrogen and ammonia production technology, and industrial decarbonisation technologies ranging from oxy-combustion to sour-gas treatment systems for hard-to-decarbonise sectors.

"We at 8 Rivers are honored that Rimrock has put trust in 8 Rivers in its mission to deploy net-zero based solutions,” 8 Rivers president  Damian Beauchamp said. “It allows 8 Rivers to pair its net-zero technologies and project development business across the US, leveraging Rimrock's footprint, expertise and environmental goals to accelerate the clean energy transition."

The companies’ initial focus location is the Pierce gas processing facility in Colorado, which currently utilises a cryogenic natural gas processing system.
