SLNG, Linde plans CO2 liquefaction project in Singapore

Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) and Linde Gas have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore the feasibility and development of a CO2 liquefaction and storage facility on Jurong Island, SLNG said on November 29.
The project concept involves using cold energy from the SLNG terminal’s operations to liquefy CO2, as well as cryogenic storage and handling solutions. The liquefied CO2 will be stored in tanks onsite before it is eventually transported for end use.
Initially, the project will target to liquefy, store and transport CO₂ for the project partners, but could potentially be scaled up in the future to handle CO2 from more sources, with an open-access, multi-user concept, SLNG said.
The SLNG terminal began commercial operations in May 2013, and currently operates with two jetties, three storage tanks of 180,000 m3 each, a fourth storage tank of 260,000 m3 , and a peak send-out capacity of around 11mn metric tons/year.
