South Korea has named a new locally built LNG bunker vessel, the country’s ministry of trade, industry and energy announced on May 10.

The naming ceremony of the Blue Whale was held at Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan shipyard where the vessel was built. It is the first vessel equipped with the Korean-type KC-2 cargo design and was built with a cost of 55.3bn won ($41.74mn), the ministry said.

The Blue Whale is capable of supplying 7,500 m3 of LNG fuel directly to vessels, according to the ministry.
