Switzerland-based Sallaum Lines on June 19 announced it had placed an order for four LNG-fired pure car and truck carriers (PCTC) at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard. The contract also includes two optional vessels.

The PCTCs have a capacity of 7,400 car equivalent units (CEU) and were designed by Deltamarin. They feature a dual-fuel LNG design and measure 199.9m in length, 37.70m in width, and with a draught of 10.20m.

The eco-friendly design elements incorporated in these PCTC vessels result in a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 25%, the company said. The vessels also have the potential to decrease nitrogen oxides (NOx) by over 96%, sulfur oxides (SOx) by more than 99%, and particulate matter (PM) by more than 95%.

The delivery of the first vessel is scheduled to begin in March 2026. This order lifts Sallaum’s fleet strength to eight.
