Japanese utility Toho Gas will construct a natural gas-sourced hydrogen plant at the Chita-Midorihama factory in Chita-city, Aichi Prefecture, the company said on July 2.

The company will construct the plant with an initial production capacity of 1.7 metric tons/day. The plant will start supplying hydrogen by 2024 and will expand the production according to the hydrogen demand situation in the region, Toho said.

Toho is planning to separate and recover CO2 generated in the production process while offsetting CO2 emissions by leveraging credit.
