TotalEnergies is set to expand LNG bunkering in the port of Singapore, with a naming ceremony taking place on October 4 for a new bunker vessel.

The ceremony for the Brassavola LNG bunkering vessel took place at Sembcorp Marine's Tuas Boulevard yard in Singapore. Measuring 116.5 m in length and 22 m in width, with a capacity of 12,000 m3, the ship will be the largest LNG bunker vessel working in the port of Singapore. It is due to start operations in the first quarter of next year.

TotalEnergies entered the LNG bunkering sector in November 2020, and since then its chartered Gas Agility and Gas Vitality bunker vessels have performed around 120 LNG bunkering operations.

"We are delighted to witness this momentous milestone together with our partners today, and to move another step closer to commencing our LNG bunkering services in Singapore, the world-leading bunker hub and a frontrunner in green shipping," the vice president of TotalEnergies' marine fuels division, Louise Tricoire, said in a statement. "The Brassavola exemplifies TotalEnergies’ resolution to support our shipping customers’ decarbonisation ambition and to contribute to the country’s long-term strategies to build a sustainable Maritime Singapore.”

The Brassavola is owned by Indah Singa Maritime, a subsidiary of MOL, and will be chartered by Pavilion Energy. Under a long-term agreement with Pavilion, TotalEnergies will use the vessel to supply fuel to its shipping customers.

The French company is among three licensed suppliers of LNG bunker fuels in the port of Singapore. The other two are Pavilion and FueLNG.
