Wartsila has secured an order to provide LNG fuel gas supply (FGSS) systems for four new 23,000 TEU container vessels under construction at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding yard in China, the company said on August 31. The vessels are being built for French operator CMA CGM.

The company’s scope of supply for this project encompasses system engineering, a specialised material package, delivery of the boil-off gas compressor skid, as well as overseeing commissioning, testing, and supervision of the FGSS systems.

The delivery of the equipment to the shipyard is planned for early 2024. The initial two vessels are projected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the remaining two vessels following suit in the latter half of 2026.

Over the past six years, Wartsila has been entrusted with supplying FGSS systems to a total of 30 newbuild vessels for CMA CGM.
