UK engineering company Wood has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Computer Modelling Group (CMG) to develop carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects, it said on April 27.

Under this agreement, Wood will combine its surface, fluids transport and pipeline engineering expertise with CMG’s subsurface software and services to provide an integrated and connected approach to CCS project development.

“At Wood, we pride ourselves on our ability to integrate complementary expertise and services to deliver end-to-end solutions for our clients. We believe that in working with CMG we can help clients realise CCS project ambitions,” Azad Hessamodini, executive president of consulting at Wood, said.

Wood recently announced it had completed carbon capture and transportation studies for more than half of the 300 carbon capture facilities being planned worldwide.

“Carbon capture and storage is a vital component of the decarbonisation journey, and simulation is imperative to mitigating risk and ensuring safety in these complex projects,” Pramod Jain, CEO CMG, stated.

CMG has over 20 years of experience researching and developing solutions for carbon capture.
