Finnish technology company Wartsila, through its joint venture CWEC (Shanghai) Company, has been selected as a supplier to deliver four 34DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines for ADNOC Logistics & Services’ sixth and final vessel in a series of six newbuild 175,000 m3 LNG carrier (LNGC) vessels, it said on December 21.

These LNG carriers, commissioned by Adnoc Logistics & Services, a unit of Abu Dhabi-based oil and gas company Adnoc, are under construction at the Jiangnan Shipyard in China.

Rajan Khanna, head of sales for the Middle East, said, “Wartsila 34DF engine will help Adnoc Logistics & Services’ LNG carriers in reducing energy consumption, fewer emissions, and lower operating costs, and when operating on LNG has minimised methane slip.”

Apart from the engines, Wartsila will also provide the shaft seals for these LNG carriers, scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026.
