Aker BP, OMV complete seismic campaign for Poseidon CCS

By Shardul SharmaAker BP and its partner OMV have completed the acquisition of a 3D seismic survey over the Poseidon CCS licence area in the Norwegian North Sea, Aker BP announced on October 18.
The survey was carried out by PGS with the vessel Ramform Atlas and covered more than 500 km2. The survey was aimed at generating high-resolution imaging of the CO2 storage complex and to provide a baseline for monitoring of the storage integrity. Aker BP said that the survey was safely executed within schedule and budget.
The Poseidon licence area is located approximately 100 km off the Norwegian coast and is operated by Aker BP. The licence was awarded to Aker BP and OMV in March 2023.
The licence has a work programme that includes a 3D seismic acquisition and related studies, followed by a drill-or-drop decision by May 2025 at the latest. Poseidon is a 50/50 partnership between Aker BP and OMV.
