Sydney-listed ReNu Energy’s subsidiary, Countrywide Hydrogen, has unveiled its refuelling strategy and introduced its refuelling brand, H2Co Energy, ReNU said on July 12.

This development follows the previous announcement last week regarding the selection of Plug Power as the preferred contractor for the supply of 5 MW PEM electrolysers and Fabrum Solutions as the preferred contractor for H35 hydrogen refueling stations (HRS).

Countrywide Hydrogen plans to establish HRS at each of its proposed sites in Tasmania, specifically in Brighton (Hobart), Western Junction (Launceston), and Heybridge (Burnie). By operating the HRS themselves, Countrywide Hydrogen aims to offer customers a direct purchase option for green hydrogen, eliminating the need for third-party resellers, ReNu said. This strategy is expected to result in a lower hydrogen fuel cost for customers.

Geoffrey Drucker, managing director of Countrywide Hydrogen, said that their national strategy will be initially implemented in their flagship hydrogen projects in Tasmania and subsequently expanded to mainland Australia, where project development is underway.

“The refuelling stations do not need complex infrastructure and we can target a lower hydrogen price by not including third party reseller margins in the supply chain. Our strategically selected locations in Tasmania offer statewide coverage for fuel cell vehicle owners and drivers,” he said.
