Denver-based biogas plant manufacturer and operator Biogest America on April 3 announced the signing of a letter of intent for the joint development and financing of a renewable natural gas (RNG) project in the Saint-Nazaire d’Acton area in Quebec.

According to Biogest, the project will showcase the benefits of the PowerRing technology. During the fermentation process, waste materials are converted into organic fertilizer, serving as a sustainable alternative to chemical products. Furthermore, the project will introduce a novel concept by integrating biochar production. This dual-purpose approach not only enhances RNG production but also contributes to sustainable organic waste management practices, the company stated.

This project marks Canada's first Biogest RNG initiative. Once operational, it is projected to produce 105,000mm Btu (350 Nm³/h) of RNG.
