California-based Clean Energy Fuels (CEF), the largest supplier in the US of renewable natural gas (RNG) for the transport industry, said June 8 it had signed new supply deals covering more than 26mn gallons of RNG.

Leading the list is Liberty Coca-Cola, one of the country’s largest bottlers and distributors of Coke and other brands serving the US Northeast. It has signed a fueling contract with CEF to power trucks in New York and Philadelphia with RNG, the first in its fleet to use RNG.

Home appliance company Electrolux has signed a fueling agreement with Clean Energy for an estimated 200,000 gallons of RNG to be used by new trucks from a contracted carrier that will fuel at Clean Energy’s station in Ontario, California.

Waste management company Recology has signed new and extended RNG supply and maintenance contracts covering 800,000 and 6.5mn gallons, respectively, to fuel more than 150 trucks from existing Recology stations in Gilroy, Brisbane and Davis, California and 30 trucks from a new station in Snohomish, Washington that it has contracted CEF to build.

Santa Monica, California transit agency Big Blue Bus, and early adopter of RNG with a fleet of 195 transit buses carrying 44,000 passengers daily, signed a maintenance agreement to supply its fleet with 7.5mn gallons/year of RNG.

Various other supply and maintenance agreements covering about 12.05mn gallons of RNG were signed with transit agencies, industrial fleets and trucking companies in California, Alabama, Arizona and Washington.
