Nordic energy company Gasum, in collaboration with real estate investment firm Mjavann Invest, on February 19 announced the opening of its newest gas filling station in Kristiansand municipality, Norway.
The facility represents an expansion of Gasum's liquefied biogas (LBG) infrastructure in response to the growing demand for sustainable fuel alternatives in the region.
The gas filling station offers both compressed and liquefied biogas and is accessible to both corporate distributors and the general public. This initiative aligns with Gasum's mission to provide environmentally friendly solutions and contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions in the transportation sector, the company stated.
The Kristiansand station is the sixth LBG filling station established by Gasum in Norway, serving logistics companies in the region and facilitating long-haul traffic between Oslo and Kristiansand. Gasum said it remains committed to further expanding its network, with plans to build additional filling stations in 2024. One of these stations is slated for Sandnes near Stavanger, marking the initial phase of connecting the corridor along the E39 from Kristiansand to Alesund on the western coast of Norway.
In collaboration with Mjavann Invest and local logistics companies based in Kristiansand, Gasum has implemented this project. Notable participants include Veoy, a local logistics company that has already invested in biogas-powered trucks and served as a pilot customer during the test filling period. Additionally, Josdal Transportservice, another local transport company, is expected to receive its first biogas-powered trucks in the coming months.
