Gasum on June 9 inaugurated a new biogas filling station in Ålesund municipality, located on the western coast of Norway. The filling station is Gasum's fourth liquefied biogas station in the country.

The new station is positioned in the Digerneset Næringspark logistics hub, catering to logistics companies operating in the region and supporting long-haul traffic from Ålesund to destinations such as Trondheim, Oslo, and Sweden. It offers both compressed and liquefied biogas to meet the growing demand for gas fuel options.

Gasum said that the station plays a crucial role in its Nordic gas filling station network, which aims to facilitate the growth of biogas in the heavy-duty transportation segment. Gasum plans to establish several more filling stations in Norway in the coming years.

Gasum collaborated with Posten, the Norwegian postal service, and ÅRIM, a waste management company, to open the new filling station. Posten and ÅRIM's investments in biogas trucks provided the necessary base load volume for Gasum to invest in the station, the company stated.

According to Gasum, by shifting even a fifth of the heavy transport market to biogas, Norway could achieve a 70% reduction in total carbon emissions, contributing to the country's goal of reducing emissions by at least 55% by 2030.
