Avista inks deal with Pine Creek RNG for RNG from Quad Cities Landfill

By Shardul SharmaAvista, the Washington-based energy utility, has entered into an agreement with Pine Creek RNG, headquartered in Florida, to procure renewable natural gas (RNG) from the upcoming Quad Cities Landfill project in Milan, Illinois, it said on January 29.
Construction on the Milan project is anticipated to conclude by the end of 2024, with an expected annual production capacity of 3mn therms of RNG. Pine Creek RNG's total contracted output for various projects with Avista, including the Quad Cities Landfill, is projected to reach 9.7mn therms/year. This substantial quantity is equivalent to the natural gas consumption of approximately 17,500 homes, Avista said.
The Quad Cities Landfill, owned by Millennium Waste Incorporated, a subsidiary of Waste Connections, serves as the source for this RNG.
This recent agreement marks the fourth collaboration between Avista and Pine Creek RNG. Previous RNG projects included the Horn Rapids Landfill in Richland, Washington, the Bayview Landfill in Elberta, Utah, and the Black Hawk Landfill in Waterloo, Iowa.
