FueLNG, a joint venture between Seatrium Offshore & Marine and Shell Singapore, has successfully completed its 100th ship-to-ship (STS) LNG bunkering operation, it said on October 12.

This was achieved during the bunkering of global mining company Anglo American’s operated vessel Ubuntu Humanity by FueLNG Bellina at the very large crude carrier anchorage (AVLCC).

FueLNG Bellina, Singapore’s first LNG bunkering vessel, is equipped with a system that can deliver LNG at a rate of up to 1,000 m3/hour up to a capacity of 7,500 m3. It is used to provide LNG bunkering services to vessels at the Port of Singapore.

As the lowest carbon marine fuel available at scale today, LNG has become increasingly important in the shipping sector’s quest for net-zero emissions, FueLNG said. The integration of bio-LNG and hydrogen-based e-LNG will further amplify its contribution to net-zero emissions by 2050, it added.

Since its establishment in 2016, FueLNG has carried out over 500 truck-to-ship bunkering operations, and more than 650 truck-to-industry LNG distribution, apart from the 100 STS LNG bunkering to dual-fuelled vessels in Singapore.
