Iveco Bus, a subsidiary of Italy’s Iveco Group, on February 21 announced a collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to introduce 100 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses in Athens.

The Urbanway CNG articulated buses, spanning 18 meters in length, are not only compliant with Euro VI-e emissions standards for CNG vehicles but are also compatible with biomethane.

Powered by the Cursor 9 NP engine manufactured by FPT Industrial, the buses boast a total passenger capacity of 144. The integration of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) devices ensures compliance with the General Safety Regulation (GSR), effective from July 2024.

“The signing of the contract with Iveco France SAS for the supply of 100 articulated 18-meter long CNG city buses marks another step towards achieving a three-fold goal set by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport,” Christos Staikouras, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, stated.

“This goal concerns the upgrade of urban transportation, the promotion of sustainable urban mobility, and the attainment of a high level of public transportation services offered to citizens," he added.
