Mumbai-headquartered GreenLine Mobility Solutions, an LNG-powered heavy trucking logistics company, has deployed its LNG-powered trucks at Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company. Greenline’s parent company Essar announced the deployment on November 9.

GreenLine will invest 2bn rupees ($24mn) to deploy LNG-powered trucks for Hindustan Zinc’s road logistics operations. These LNG-powered trucks, manufactured by Pune-based Blue Energy Motors, have lower emissions of toxic pollutants compared to diesel, with cuts of up to 30% in CO2, up to 100% in SOx, up to 59% in NOx, up to 91% in particulate matter, and up to 70% in CO.

Arun Misra, CEO Hindustan Zinc, said, “By introducing LNG vehicles, we are not just showcasing our commitment towards decarbonising Indian mining but also paving the way for a revolution in transportation. This is yet another step towards our vision of net zero by 2050 or sooner, and we look forward to scaling this up in the coming months.”

Greenline and Hindustan Zinc announced the tie-up last month.

“Indian corporate leadership is committed to reducing their carbon footprint, and our green logistics solutions are instrumental in advancing their sustainability goals. We firmly believe that clean and eco-friendly mobility solutions will play a pivotal role in aiding industries to attain their sustainability goals," Anand Mimani, CEO, GreenLine, said.

GreenLine aims to expand its fleet of LNG-fuelled trucks and plans to deploy 1,650 LNG trucks by March 2024.
