EQT earns Gold Standard from OGMP 2.0

EQT, the largest natural gas producer in the US, said November 1 it had been awarded Gold Standard rating by the global Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) 2.0, the highest reporting standard available.
OGMP 2.0 is a multi-stakeholder initiative launched by the United Nations Environment Programme and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition in partnership with the European Commission, the UK and Norwegian governments, the Environmental Defense Fund and nearly 80 leading oil and gas companies.
To achieve the standard, bottom-up source level reporting of methane emissions must be reconciled with top-down site level emissions measurements. Only 14 companies globally have achieved the Gold Standard for 2022.
“Our achieving the Gold Standard rating under the OGMP 2.0 further validates EQT’s commitment to operating at the highest standards when it comes to methane monitoring and reduction,” CEO Toby Rice said. “And among this elite group of world-leading companies, EQT has the second lowest 2025 target methane intensity goal.”
Alongside the OGMP rating, EQT – which produces about 4.5% of all US natural gas – has had the majority of that production certified under both Equitable Origin’s EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development, which assesses overall environmental, social and governance metrics, and MiQ’s methane standard, which measures methane intensity.
