National Fuel Gas Midstream (NFG Midstream), the gathering segment of National Fuel Gas, has earned certification of 100% of its gas gathering system assets under Equitable Origin’s EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development, Equitable Origin said October 18.

The assessment, conducted by Geosyntec Consultants between June and August this year, applied not only the EO100™ standards but also those under the EO100 Technical Supplement for Natural Gas Gathering/Boosting and Processing.

NFG Midstream is the first gathering or midstream company and the second National Fuel Gas subsidiary to earn EO100™ certification, joining Seneca Resources, which achieved certification of 100% of its natural gas production in early 2022.

“Midstream is proud to set this industry milestone, as the first gathering operator to earn EO100 certification, which reaffirms our commitment to implement best practices related to ESG standards throughout our Appalachian Basin operations,” NFG Midstream president Justin Loweth said. “We see this achievement as a step forward in our efforts to promote sustainability across our operations, transporting responsibly sourced energy to interconnections with pipelines that serve key commercial markets and end users.”

Geosyntec assessed a total of 47 facilities representing 100% of National Fuel Gas Midstream’s assets, including 400 miles of pipeline with the capacity to move 2.3bn ft3/day of natural gas across five counties in Pennsylvania, 32 compressor stations, one backpressure valve, 10 metering and interconnect stations and four office and warehouse facilities.

“We are pleased to acknowledge NFG Midstream’s leadership in certifying 100% of its assets to the EO100 Standard and in pioneering its application to the gathering business,” Equitable Origin CEO Jason Switzer said. “They have raised the bar for ESG performance through this certification across their operations in Pennsylvania.”
